@amrith
A decade of doing things that don’t scale.
Now at the scale Automattic has.
Give all of Automattic and its products one unified community, and voices worth following. I’ll build and run both, starting with CloudUp.
the idea
- Do what doesn’t scale, at Automattic’s scale. The grassroots playbook startups win with, run with the reach of a company this size.
- Own the most durable channel there is. Google’s experimental teams, OpenAI, and most big launches run a Discord. Reach everyone who opted in, any time, for years. Owned, not rented.
- One room for the family, not fragments. Automattic’s only real hub is a Salesforce-sponsored Slack for WordPress agencies. One low-friction Discord, channels and roles per product, from CloudUp to Beeper.
- Give people a place to be heard. First you give them the room. Who shows up for which product becomes a live signal I route back to each team.
why me
- I doubled Product Hunt’s following. From 200K to 400K+ on Twitter, all organic, without spending a dime on marketing.
- Frugal by training. I’ve built real communities on next to no budget. Give me Automattic’s scale and resources, spent wisely, and the same money goes a lot further.
- Internet native. Over half my life on Twitter, so I know that audience inside out, and the years taught me every organic-growth lever there is, from ASO to SEO/AEO.
- I wear every hat. Virtually everything non-technical a startup needs, at any stage, whatever it takes. I talk to users daily to keep direction honest, and I build my own products, so I talk to builders as one of them.
- I started with WordPress. My first way to build was using BuddyPress for my student maker community. I’m not an outsider to Automattic’s world.
where i’d start
- Build out the Automattic Discord. One home for every product, channels per product, CloudUp first. I grow and run it, so no team needs the bandwidth until the signal says so.
- Own CloudUp’s go-to-market. I know the incumbents and the people who pick them. I’ve seen the roadmap and I’ll go to war for it, packaged for normies, local businesses, tech twitter, and all-in-one enterprise.
- Run Twitter and organic for the family. Twitter first, then ASO and SEO/AEO, wherever a product needs reach.
- Be the bridge. Turn community signal into direction for each team, and pull them in only when it’s worth their time.
I want to be the community face of Automattic and its products, starting with CloudUp, because I want something like it to exist and I know how to reach the many people like me who do too. The fastest way to find out if it fits is to talk.
